The Annual General Meeting of the Vancouver Branch of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society will be held at the Scottish Cultural Centre, 8886 Hudson St., Vancouver, on Friday, September 14, 2018 commencing at 7:30 PM.  Members are urged to attend the meeting at which there will be the opportunity to offer feedback on past events, provide suggestions for future events and activities, and vote in the election of Directors and Officers for the 2018 – 2019 season.

Retiring from the Board are Patsy Jamieson (Membership Secretary,  Anne Brand (Director at Large – Archivist), Hamish Jackson (Director at Large – BC Highland Games Representative, Francis O’Farrell (Director at Large – Children’s Program Liaison), and Denise Cunningham (Director at Large – Events Coordinator).

Returning to the Board for the second year of their two-year terms are: Gillian Beattie (Corresponding Secretary), Stewart Cunningham (Treasurer), and Janet Mason (Director at Large – Publicity/Archives) and for a one-year term Peter Richards (Director at Large – Past Chair).

The Nominating Committee Chair, Fran Hillier, proposes the following slate of additional Directors and Officers for new two-year terms, 2018-2019:  Continuing on the Board – Heather Hankin (Chair), and for a one year extension Sally Marshall (Recording Secretary) and Sandra Anderson (Director at Large – Events Coordinator)  .  New to the Board – Barbara Kilevtsky (Membership Secretary), Christine Cardinal (Director at Large – Events Coordinator), and Tereza Cabral (Director at Large).

Any two members of the Branch may nominate a candidate for any Board position.  Nominations may be mailed to the Corresponding Secretary, care of the Scottish Cultural Centre, or presented at the AGM.   Please note that written consent is required of any nominee who will not be present at the AGM.

A complete document package comprising the minutes of the 2017 AGM, the financial statement for the 2017 – 2018 fiscal year, our proposed new Bylaws (see below resolution), nominations and reports will be posted to the Branch website by September 10th.

Reports from clubs, Board members, etc. which are to be included in the package should be sent to <chair@rscdsvancouver.org> by September 5, 2018 at the very latest.

Our motion to approve the Bylaws is as follows:
Be it RESOLVED, as a Special Resolution, that the existing Bylaws of the Society be cancelled and the form of Bylaws attached hereto be adopted as the Bylaws of the Society in substitution for the existing ones.     Proposed New Bylaws
