Ray Eagle

The “Scotsman” from Eastleigh in Hampshire.  Although Ray was born very close to the southern coast of the British Isles his heart was very much in the Highlands.  Ray passed away, at home, on Monday 31 July, at 86.

He and his wife, Maureen, lived and brought up their two sons, Alistair and Graham, in Deep Cove, before moving to West Vancouver, and also spent some time in Gibsons, on the Sunshine Coast.

Much of Ray’s career was with charitable organizations. He was a social activist, an avid environmentalist and fought for those unfairly treated.

Ray and Maureen, his wife of 62 years, were very long time members of Gleneagles Club, for which Ray wrote a very extensive and informative Club History some years ago. He loved to sing, recite and entertain at parties about his beloved, adopted Scotland. He was an author, painter, photographer and Scottish historian.

It is Ray’s wish that some of his ashes be taken and buried on the Isle of Skye.
