It was wonderful that so many of you came out for the 150th Canada Day Parade last year. We made a real splash in our red and white while dancing to our lively Scottish music. So it was terribly disappointing to learn that this year’s parade has been cancelled. This is an excerpt from the letter I recently received from the President of Canada Place Corporation:
“We would like to extend our most sincere thank you for your support and participation in the Canada Day parade over the past eight years. We have been proud to host this event as part of our Canada Day at Canada Place celebrations.”
This year they are focusing their resources on performances, exhibits and the evening fireworks show along the waterfront at Canada Place. I will be looking for other events and opportunities to showcase and promote our Scottish country dancing.
