The Vancouver Branch of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society has over 300 members, some of whom dance at classes organized by the Branch, others at clubs in and around Vancouver. Visitors are always welcome to attend Branch classes, which run from September to April. The Branch classes are held at the Scottish Cultural Centre, 8886 Hudson Street, Vancouver, V6P 4N2, while other local clubs dance at various locations in the Vancouver area. Every summer, from June to August, there is open-air Dancing in the Park on Monday evenings at 7 or 7.30 pm (check Calendar of Events), at the Ceperly Park area in Stanley Park. Our dance programs include some "audience-participation" dances, which are very popular, and we are always pleased to welcome visitors, whether local or from out of town. We publish a print newsletter, The White Cockade, on the first of every second month, September to June. The Dancing Dates section of The White Cockade is published on-line monthly. The Branch has a Demonstration Team available to entertain at functions, festivals, and other events. |
